Shows Ukraine with the Crimea (Crimea / Krym) Peninsula, the Northern Black Sea, the Sea of Azov (Azovskoye More), the course of the Dniepr from 'Lubietz' in the north to the mouth at Ocakov (Oczakoff / Oczakow / Otschakow) or Kinburn into the Black Sea, the course of the Don from Tawrow in the north to the mouth near Rostov or Azow (Asoff) into the Sea of Azov, the course of the Donets from the source to the mouth into the Don; the course of the Dnjestr (Tyras / Danastris / Dnestr / Dnister / Nistru) from Kamianets-Podilskyj (Kaminieck / Chozim) in the north to the mouth at Bilhorod-Dnistrowskij in the Black Sea and the course of the Bog (Boug) from the source to the mouth into the Black Sea at Ochakov.. Map depicts the zone of conflict during the Russian -Turkish war of 1735-1739. The theatre of operations is described including the Izium or “Ukrainian” line, comprising a set of frontier fortifications extending from the Dnipro to the Donets River. Both the old Cossack stronghold (Saporoger Setsh) and the new encampment to which the Cossacks retreated after their defeat at Poltava in 1709 are shown.
